I live near the small lakeside town of Port Perry, Ontario where I grew up filling sketch books while quietly roaming the wooded trails of my rural home. I have always been creative and deeply connected with nature. My parents were onsite caretakers of a remote 400 acre forest estate on the Oak Ridges Moraine where I grew up playing and exploring outdoors. Indoors, I was an avid reader. Both fuelled my creativity. After graduating from the University of Toronto, I returned to my home town exploring different mediums with local artists during my 35 year career in healthcare and while raising my family.

Fast forward many years and I’m still in awe of the natural places where I live and play. Currently I create in acrylic, watercolour, and mixed media. I create for personal joy and fulfillment working from my riverside studio which overlooks a wetland habitat I’m grateful to call home. Immersed in nature, my work is deeply connected to this area and gently echoes the outdoors.

Mornings here always start with a large mug of tea and a barefoot stroll through my gardens to see how things are coming along. Then down to the river’s edge to watch the sunrise, play fetch with the dogs or watch a blue heron through the morning mist. My camera is always handy to capture these moments for later reference. Eventually I’ll wander back to my gardens or studio with my mug empty and thoughts organized for the day. In late fall and winter the day starts with a crisp walk along autumn leaf or snow covered trails with the dogs. Sometimes the soul just needs to wander without being told where to go. Only then can I start to create.

When I’m not in my studio, you can find me with my dogs and family active on the trails, slopes and shores of Lake Scugog and Georgian Bay.
