Janet Vendrig

I live near the small lakeside town of Port Perry, Ontario where I grew up filling sketch books along the wooded trails of my rural home. My parents were onsite caretakers and stewards of a 400 acre forested estate on the Oak Ridges Moraine. I spent most of my childhood outdoors in this magical place fuelling my imagination and creativity. After graduating from the University of Toronto, I returned to the area exploring different mediums with local artists during my career and while raising my family.

I am still inspired by the tranquil natural places where I live and play. I create in acrylic, watercolour, and mixed media using the same natural colours and textures I’ve always been surrounded by. I create for personal joy, growth and fulfillment working from my riverside studio which overlooks a significant wetland habitat area. My work is deeply connected to this serene natural space and gently echoes the outdoors.

When I’m not in my studio creating, I can be found outdoors with my family and dogs active on the trails, slopes and shores of Lake Scugog and Georgian Bay.
